HYDERABAD: Cocaine was found inside the heel compartment of a sandal, which was further packed inside a cardboard box and sent through courier from New Delhi. Hyderabad police say they’ve busted a transnational narcotics network led by a restaurateur who received cocaine hidden in sandal heels, along with 1.6 g of ecstasy, sent from Delhi via courier. The network allegedly involved Nigerian suppliers, upscale pubs, digital payments, and clients like doctors and tech pros. Upon search, 10 grams of cocaine, 3.2 grams of ‘OG Kush,’ and 1.6 grams of ‘ecstasy’ pills were recovered. Hyderabad police say the cocaine-laced sandals were packed in a pink cardboard box and dispatched from New Delhi under the alias “Fatima,” according to PTI. Hyderabad’s EAGLE unit has arrested 34-year-old entrepreneur Surya Annamaneni, revealing a deep-rooted, transnational drug syndicate. The network involved international suppliers (including Nigerians), upscale pub-based consumers, courier-based delivery of cocaine and MDMA from Delhi (cleverly hidden in sandals), and digital payments—all unearthed following his July 7 arrest in Kompally police interception. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and he has been remanded to judicial custody.
